Photography Visit to Sneem & Parknasilla, Co. Kerry, Ireland
Just after Christmas and on the day of the arrival of Storm Frank, I visited Co. Kerry and the picturesque area around Sneem. Staying at the Parknasilla hotel there were many walks near by and the break in the weather the day after Storm Frank allowed for some exploration of this area of Co. Kerry on the Wild Atlantic Way.
There are many facets to the walks in and around Parknasilla, including costal sections, inland marshes and rivers as well as a small climb to give an amazing view over the bay. These are all very picturesque and ideal for a photographer looking to take some nice landscape photography shots. The only issue was the weather. It was so cold and blustery, I just spent minimal time on setup but I am happy with the overall results as you can see below.
I have included 3 shots on this post from Sneem, one of which is the same photo but changing the white balance to a more tungsten one, I think I like them both, I hope you do too.
We stayed in the Parknasilla Hotel ,which was very luxurious but at Christmas was overrun with Kids. Not having kids myself I chose to stay in the Spa area where they were not allowed. The Hotel itself was the location for the very weird and disturbing film, The Lobster.
If the weather was better there were many other areas especially on the mountain drive between Sneem and Bantry which I would have loved to photograph. There were many times along that drive where I would have loved to stop and setup a decent shot but maybe next time I am in the area.
