Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris
On Monday 15th April 2019 around 6:50 pm a fire was discovered at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Over the next 4 hours, the fire engulfed and consumed hundreds of years of history. The devastating flames tore through the roof and in a matter of minutes the famous steeple succumbed to the flames. Crowds gathered in the streets below looking at a scene which they could not comprehend. Onlookers apparently sang and prayed as they watched smoke and flames coming from one of the iconic symbols of Paris.
I have been lucky enough to have visited the Cathedral on more than one occasion. I was there in 2000, 2007 and 2010 and have passed by it on the other occasions I have been in Paris. I have included some of my own photos of Notre Dame Cathedral. Some of these photos include the famous altar inside theCathedral. I have also included a photo of the famous spire which unfortunately was destroyed in the fire.
