This weeks Photo of the Week is from the Waterford Spraoi parade which took place on Sunday 31st July 2011.
The theme of this years Spraoi Parade is “An Bosca Beo” – the “Box of Life”. The Spraoi Parade, “An Bosca Beo”, was designed by Spraoi Productions to be “a magical journey, following a box along its sometimes bumpy, sometimes winding road through life. From birth as the first box is delivered by giant storks, through the toy boxes of our childhood, to the boxes we live in as adults, to the final box of all… and its bony inhabitant. All of human life in its silly surreal glory is here!”
This photo was taken as the Spraoi Parade approached my viewing point, the smoke was billowing from behind the floats and the somber mood was very well portrayed by the Spraoi Actors. I thought this would be suited to selective colouring / Black and White and I think it works well. (it also continues my enjoyment of Black and White photography similar to the Lonely Bike photo of the week from a few weeks back)
