Using the iphone as a photography tool

Sometimes you get caught without your camera. I travelled to Bunclody on 26th November and it snowed on 27th … Alas, No camera with me!

All I had was my iPhone and a collection of iPhone Apps. I have included some examples below of photos taken on the iPhone and made better with some clever photo apps.

TiltShiftGen

This allows you to add blur, vignetting, contrast and saturation to photos. End result is below.

HDR For Free

This App is a free pseudo HDR app. A real HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo requires at least 2 if not 3 separate exposures. This app generates HDR from 1 shot. The result is shown below.

Does an Ok job at retrieving some colour and depth from a scene that had little to start from.

Conclusion

Even though my Canon was 60kms away I was still able to enjoy taking some nice photos – perhaps making you concentrate more on the subject and composition.
